Jonty Rhodes appointed goodwill ambassador for DPL cricket tournament

Dhangadhi, Jan 30 : South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes has been appointed a goodwill ambassador for the third edition of upcoming Dhangadhi Premier League cricket tournament. 

The induction of the world popular player may draw the attention of the International Cricket Council and the world's cricket fraternity alike, and will add the match's charm and value, according to a statement released by the organiser. 

The DPL has already got an ICC statue. The tournament with the largest prize pool is taking place on February 9. The venue is the Fapla Cricket Ground in Dhangadhi. 

Six teams--Dhangadhi Stars, Mahendranagar United, CYC Attariya, Biratnagar Kings, Rupandehi Challengers and Kathmandu Goldens--are competing in the tournament. The organiser has said preparations have reached their final stage. They estimates the project cost to be Rs 50 million.(RSS)
