Classes in Magar language begins from rural municipality

Kaski, June 15 : Classes in local Magar language has begun from the Machhapuchre Basic school in Ribhan Mohara in ward no. 5 of Machhapuchre. 

At a function held at the school on Friday, Gandaki State Assembly member Ramji Baral and the rural municipality Chair Karna Gurung declared announcement of the beginning of Magar language classes after handing over the Magar language text books to the school management committee chair Biswa Bahadur Rana. The village has 46 Magar households. Established in 1974, there are currently 27 students studying in the school. Of them 26 are from the Magar community, according to the school's headteacher Jivnath Adhikari. There is currently one Magar language teacher and another is being appointed soon.

The school was selected for the Magar language classes as per the decision of the third village assembly of the rural municipality. 

Preparations are now underway to begin classes in Tamang language in another school in ward no. 2 of the same municipality, Chair Gurung said.(RSS)
