Bus service to resume on medium and long routes from Thursday

Kathmandu, Sept 16 : The transport entrepreneurs have said they were ready to resume the bus service for medium and long routes which was halted for nearly six months. The joint taskforce comprising the transport entrepreneurs and drivers' federation has requested all to cooperate from their sides to resume the bus service smoothly.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, they also urged all drivers, co-drivers and passengers to adopt adequate safety measures while operating and using the bus. Mask, sanitizer, gloves are essential to drivers and co-drivers. The co-drivers need to use face shield as well. Similarly, the passengers are requested to use mask and not to make crowd while entering and exiting the bus.

The taskforce also met Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basanta Kumar Nembang on Wednesday and thanked him for forwarding the proposal to resume long route transportation to the Cabinet meeting. 

The Minister has directed Director General at Department of Transport Management Gogan Bahadur Hamal to make necessary arrangement to ensure safety standard in bus service.

Only 50 percent passengers are allowed in a bus. However the passengers need to pay 50 percent higher bus fare than the regular one.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs National Federation, Saroj Sitaula, said no instruction was made where the passengers could be allowed break for breakfast and lunch.(RSS)
